Neil Cavuto Exits Fox News After 28 Years
Neil Cavuto, a longtime Fox News anchor who joined when it launched in 1996, is exiting the cable news network.
Cavuto’s contract with Fox News was due to expire at the end of 2024; the network offered him a new deal and he declined, a source familiar with the situation said. His departure comes as TV news orgs across the board continue to try to rationalize costs for high-priced talent. Cavuto has overseen business news content for both networks and leads special events coverage for Fox Business Network.
“Neil Cavuto’s illustrious career has been a master class in journalism and we’re extremely proud of his incredible 28-year run with Fox News Media,” a rep for the network said in a statement. “His programs have defined business news and set the standard for the entire industry. We wish him a heartfelt farewell and all the best on his next chapter.”
Cavuto currently anchors “Your World” (weekdays 4-5pm) on Fox News, “Cavuto Coast to Coast” (weekdays 12-1pm) on Fox Business Network and “Cavuto Live” on Saturdays from 10am-12pm.
Fox News Media will announce new programming in the new year on FNC and FBN to replace Cavuto’s timeslots. For now, “Your World” on Fox News will be helmed by rotating anchors until a new show debuts. “Coast to Coast” on FBN becomes “Fox Business Live” anchored by rotating hosts until new programming debuts. In addition, “Cavuto Live” on Saturdays becomes “Fox News Live,” also helmed by rotating anchors.
Before joining Fox News for its August 1996 launch, Cavuto, 66, anchored and hosted more than three hours of live daily programming for CNBC, including the network’s highest-rated show, “Market Wrap.” He also served as a contributor to NBC’s “Today” and “NBC News at Sunrise.” Prior to that, Cavuto was New York bureau chief for PBS’s “Nightly Business Report.”
During his tenure at Fox Business, Cavuto had led all of the network’s election coverage since 2007, including the marathon election-night special report in 2020. Cavuto contributed to the network’s 2024 election coverage as well as the breaking coverage surrounding the Russian invasion of Ukraine, including a special edition of “Cavuto Live” dedicated to the breaking news. Earlier in 2022, he hosted an town hall on FBN’s “Cavuto: Coast to Coast” titled “Inflation in America.”
Cavuto is author of bestselling books “More Than Money: True Stories of People Who Learned Life’s Ultimate Lesson” and “Your Money or Your Life.” A former White House intern during the Carter administration, Cavuto graduated from Saint Bonaventure University and received his master’s degree from the American University.
