For the first time, Variety will partner with VIBE on an exclusive event, Reimagining Creativity, at the 2025 Sundance Film Festival. Reimagining Creativity, presented by Google TV and YouTube, will take place on Saturday, Jan. 25, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the renowned Riverhorse on Main in Park City, Utah.
The evening will feature conversations with leading figures in the entertainment industry, delving into the future of storytelling and the evolving landscape of entertainment.
The event will kick off with an immersive experience showcasing the future of entertainment, setting the stage for the first conversation: a Fireside Chat between Shalini Govil-Pai, vice president of Google TV, and Variety’s senior entertainment writer Angelique Jackson. This pair will discuss the future of streaming, the changing role of technology, and how Google TV is reshaping content consumption for audiences worldwide.
Additionally, the “Celebrating Innovation in Entertainment” panel will bring together Roy Wood Jr., actor and comedian (“Love, Brooklyn”); Marlee Matlin, Oscar-winning actor (“Not Alone Anymore”); Amy Berg, Oscar-nominated filmmaker (“It’s Never Over, Jeff Buckley,” “The Case Against Adnan Syed,” “Deliver Us From Evil”); Harry Hamlin, actor (“Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches”); and Tom Quinn, CEO of Neon. This discussion will explore how imagination and storytelling experimentation is key to driving compelling narratives in film and TV.
The final panel, “Forging New Paths to Stardom: How Traditional and Next Gen Creatives Are Owning the Narrative,” will feature VIBE’s editor-in-chief Raina Kelley, YouTube creators Michelle Khare and Kinigra Deon, Americas at YouTube VP Tara Walpert Levy and actor Dewanda Wise (“Love, Brooklyn”).
