Sadie Sink Rocks Out in Hulu Musical
Sadie Sink is liberating the wasteland with a guitar and her singing voice in the first trailer for “O’Dessa,” an original rock opera from Searchlight Pictures set to debut on Hulu.
In the colorful first look at the musical, Sink’s character is seen both in her farm girl origins and along her journey in a cyberpunk-esque post-apocalyptic city, ruled by the powerful influence of a sort of sadistic entertainment mogul (Murray Bartlett). Kelvin Harrison Jr. and Regina Hall also star in the film.
“O’Dessa” will have its world premiere on March 8 at SXSW Festival in Austin, Texas. Geremy Jasper serves as writer-director and wrote the film’s music with Jason Binnick. Michael Gottwald and Noah Stahl are producers.
“There was this moment where I was just like, ‘Oh my God. I can’t believe I said yes to this. Fuck. What am I doing?!’” Sink said about signing on for “O’Dessa,” speaking to Variety for a Power of Young Hollywood cover last August. “I would sing a song, and no one else would really know that I’m freaking out on the inside, but in my own head, it’s like, ‘Oh, that’s not my voice. That’s not how I can sing this song.’ … There were some days where it was harder than others. But sometimes, it was like, ‘I feel completely fearless right now, and I’m singing in front of a lot of people!’”
After its SXSW premiere, “O’Dessa” will debut directly on Hulu on March 13.
