Storm Reid is not returning to “Euphoria” for Season 3 but there’s certainly no hard feelings between her an Zendaya.
“That’s my sister before ‘Euphoria’ and after,” Reid told me Tuesday at Time’s Women of the Year dinner at the West Hollywood Edition hotel. “That’s gonna be my sister for life, so I’m sure we’ll work together again one day in some capacity.”
“[It’s] bittersweet,” she said of leaving the show. “I love Gia. I loved being able to embody her and give her life. I’m really excited for Season 3. I know they’re going to do something special and it’s going to be good.”
It was unclear for awhile if a Season 3 was actually going to happen – it’s been since the last season played on HBO — but network boss Casey Bloys announced in November that production would begin in January. HBO released a first look at the new season with an image of Zendaya’s return as Rue.
Much of the original cast — Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, Jacob Elordi, Hunter Schafer, Alexa Demie, and Eric Dane, are returning. In addition to Reid, Barbie Ferreira announced in April 2022 she was also leaving. Angus Cloud, who played Fezco, died at age 25 in July 2023.
Reid is currently developing “Get Lite,” at Paramount. The film will mark Teyana Taylor’s directorial debut. “It’s our dance movie because we haven’t had a good one of those in a really long time,” Reid said, adding, “It’s gonna be in Harlem. It’s quintessential New York. People fail to realize it’s not like just breakdancing and like doing cool tricks.”
“There are so many different dance techniques that go into getting lite, so I need to get in choreography classes immediately. I’m not there yet, but I will be.”
And then there’s college. Reid will graduate from USC later this year. “I have two months and I’m over it,” she said. “I’m just itching to be done, which is strange because I love being at school so much. But you know, I’m not an 18-year-old girl anymore and the campus looks a little less pretty. I’m walking around and I’m like, ‘I don’t know any of these people walking around.’ But you know getting back to work is the exciting thing.”
Reid was on hand at the Time event to present a Women of the Year Award to 14-year-old Altadena Girls founder Avery Colvert.
Nicole Kidman was also honored, as was Olivia Munn for her breast cancer advocacy work after being treated for the disease in April 2023. She has undergone five surgeries, including a lymph node dissection, a double mastectomy and a hysterectomy.
