Award season’s biggest video franchise is about to get even bigger. Variety’s Actors on Actors is returning with the first-ever Broadway edition, featuring the stars from the buzziest musicals and plays on the Main Stem.
This year’s lineup includes George Clooney (“Good Night, and Good Luck”) and Patti LuPone (“The Roommate”); Audra McDonald (“Gypsy”) and Jake Gyllenhaal (“Othello”); Kieran Culkin (“Glengarry Glen Ross”) and Sarah Snook (“The Picture of Dorian Gray”); Nicole Scherzinger (“Sunset Boulevard”) and Jonathan Groff (“Just In Time”), and Cole Escola (“Oh, Mary!”) and Darren Criss (“Maybe Happy Ending”).
“Just in time for Tonys voting, we are thrilled to expand one of our favorite franchises into Broadway,” said Variety co-editor in chief Ramin Setoodeh. “From a ‘Succession’ reunion to unexpected meetings of legends from the stage and screen, these are some of the most engaging Actors on Actors conversations we have ever shot.”
Variety’s print magazine will hit newsstands on April 23. Conversations, held in Rockefeller Center’s historic Rainbow Room, will be released each day from April 22 through April 26 across Variety.com and its social media channels.
Actors on Actors, which pairs awards contenders in conversation with each other, celebrates the best performances of each Oscars and Emmys season. Last year’s film edition — featuring Ariana Grande, Paul Mescal, Nicole Kidman, Zendaya, Cynthia Erivo and Angelina Jolie — received a Webby Award nomination.
