Electronic musician Anyma has released his third project, “The End of Genesys,” the closing chapter in his trilogy of melodic techno albums.
The album features an assortment of guest appearances from artists including Grimes, Ellie Goulding, Yeat, Empire of the Sun’s Luke Steele, 070 Shake, fknsyd and Sevdaliza.
“‘The End Of Genesys’ is more than an album,” says Anyma in a statement to Variety. “It’s a reflection of everything I have been building sonically and visually over the last few years. It explores the intersection of technology and humanity, and what it means to evolve. This project marks a turning point and I’m looking forward to what’s next.”
“The End of Genesys” comes some months after the Italian musician’s residency at Las Vegas’ Sphere, where he became the first electronic musician to stage a series of shows. He announced the album at the end of the residency, a multisensory concert experience incorporating bespoke visuals and cutting-edge technology.
Previously speaking to Variety about his Sphere residency, Anyma, whose real name is Matteo Milleri, stated that the shows and his final “Genesys” album were intended to close a creative chapter of his career. “This arrived to a point of saturation,” he said. “When ideas get recycled a bit too much, I’m the first one to think, what’s next? I want to move forward. But I want to give it a very glorified ending, because it was such an important part of my music and my life.”
Anyma first released “Gensesys” in 2023 and its sequel “Genesys II” the following year. Before debuting as Anyma in 2021, he was one-half of the duo Tale of Us, establishing the label Afterlife. He will next stage a summer residency at Ibiza’s [UNVRS] across eight shows, in addition to festival appearances in Spain, Korea and Belgium.
