Brad Pitt is stepping onto the racetrack in the new trailer for “F1,” the upcoming Formula One racing movie. It’s coming to theaters on June 27.
Pitt stars in the movie as Sonny Hayes, a retired Formula One driver who suffered a terrible crash in his past. He’s convinced to come out of retirement and train a rookie prodigy, played by Damson Idris, for the Apex Grand Prix race.
Joseph Kosinski, who directed Tom Cruise in the high-flying “Top Gun: Maverick,” helmed the film alongside producers Jerry Bruckheimer, Chad Oman, Pitt, Dede Gardner, Jeremy Kleiner and Formula One racer Lewis Hamilton.
In addition to Pitt, the “F1” cast includes Javier Bardem, Idris, Kerry Condon, Tobias Menzies, Kim Bodnia, Shea Wigham, Joseph Balderrama, Sarah Niles, Samson Kayo, Callie Cooke and Layne Harper.
There will also be appearances by real life Formula One drivers, including Lewis Hamilton, George Russell, Max Verstappen, Sergio Pérez, Charles Leclerc, Carlos Sainz Jr., Lando Norris, Oscar Piastri, Fernando Alonso, Lance Stroll, Pierre Gasly, Esteban Ocon, Valtteri Bottas, Zhou Guanyu, Nico Hülkenberg, Kevin Magnussen, Daniel Ricciardo, Yuki Tsunoda, Logan Sargeant and Alexander Albon.
Apple acquired “F1” back in 2022 for a deal reportedly worth $130 million to $140 million, not including the salaries for Pitt, Kosinski and the rest of the team. The film will be released on the streaming service Apple TV+ at a later date, and Warner Bros. picked up the theatrical, home entertainment and digital purchase distribution rights. Imax will also release “F1” on its large screen format in theaters.
