On the heels of the massive success of award-winning indie poker-themed deck-building game “Balatro,” mobile game giant King is getting in on the playing-card trend with the launch of “Candy Crush Solitaire.”
Per King’s description for the new “Candy Crush” franchise game, “‘Candy Crush Solitaire‘ offers players a fresh, exciting way to enjoy solitaire by blending the familiar gameplay of tripeaks solitaire with engaging new features. Players can expect a strategic, dynamic experience enhanced by fan-favorite boosters, challenging blockers and a rewarding progression system, all wrapped in the vibrant world of ‘Candy Crush.’”
The new free-to-play mobile title, which operates with an in-game micro-transactions revenue model, will launch Feb. 6. Pre-registration is open now on the Amazon Appstore, Apple App Store, Google Play Store, Samsung Galaxy Store and more platforms, and users who sign up now will receive “exclusive” in-game rewards, including a “unique card back, 5,000 coins, four undos, two fish cards and three color bomb cards.”
Owned by Microsoft Gaming since its acquisition of parent company Activision Blizzard in December 2023, “Candy Crush” maker King is also known for other mobile game hits including the “Farm Heroes Saga.” King’s mobile games are played by more than 200 million monthly active users, according to the company. The game developer currently has teams creating and working on titles based in offices across Stockholm, Malmö, London, Barcelona, Berlin, Dublin, San Francisco, New York, Los Angeles and Malta.
