Egeda, FilmSharks Renew Next Gen Iberseries Platino Industria

Madrid-based rights management society Egeda and sales agency FilmSharks have renewed the Egeda-FilmSharks Prize, to be granted this October to the best project at Iberseries Platino Industria’s Next Gen pitching sessions.

The prize consists in FilmSharks’ acquisition of world distribution rights to the winning project at Next Gen, heading towards its fourth edition and a competition highlight at Iberseries Platino Industria, which runs Sept.30-Oct. 3 in Madrid. The agreement renews a partnership for a second year.

One of the biggest mart-meets in the Spanish-speaking world, Iberseries Platino Industria was launched in 2021 by Egeda, the biggest rights management society in Spain and Latin America and the Secuoya Foundation, the non-profit promotion arm of Spanish production powerhouse Secuoya Content Group (“Zorro,” “Montecristo”).

An exactingly curated selection of eight projects, selected with Script from 250 submissions, the Next Gen Pitchings have prized Nestor Lopez, Pablo de Chica and Pilar Sancho. Titles presented at Next Gen take in Berlin winner “20,000 Species of Beas,” directed by Estibaliz Urresola, and Alauda Ruíz de Azua debut “Lullaby,” both put through the prestigious Incubator development program of the ECAM Madrid Film School.

Selection focuses on fully developed script projects. They are pitched to an industry audience taking in U.S. studio and local production executives, top VOD players from Spain, Latin America and U.S Hispanic, film distributors and financiers.

“For Egeda, it’s a true honour to renew this agreement . There is nothing better for the Next Gen participants to get real feedback from top expert international players,” said Egeda’s Carlos Antón.

“It’s been a while since we’ve felt such a vibrant , happening , full-of-cinema selection as the one made by Egeda. Iberseries Platino Industria is a not-to-be missed event on the festival-market calendar.”
