Emmy winner Elizabeth Debicki (“The Crown”) and Tony nominee Kate Fleetwood (Broadway’s “Macbeth”) have joined Ewan McGregor in the West End play “My Master Builder.”
David Ajala (“Star Trek: Discovery”) and Mirren Mack (“Sex Education”) round out the cast of Lila Raicek’s work based on Henrik Ibsen’s 1892 play “The Master Builder.” Directed by Michael Grandage, who also co-produces with MarketStall and Seaview, “My Master Builder” opens on April 29 at Wyndham’s Theatre.
“On the eve of July 4th in the Hamptons, Elena Solness, a publishing magnate, is preparing to throw a party to celebrate her architect husband, Henry Solness, as he unveils his latest masterpiece,” the play’s synopsis reads. “Their already vulnerable union is shattered by the unexpected arrival of Mathilde, a former student of Henry’s, with whom he previously shared an intimate connection. As the evening unfolds, each find themselves face to face with a reckoning that indelibly tilts the axis of their lives.”
As previously announced, McGregor will play the role of Henry Solness. Fleetwood joins as Elena, with Debicki portraying Mathilde. Ajala has been cast as Ragnar, and Mack as Kaja.
The full creative team has also been announced. Richard Kent is the set and costume designer, Paule Constable the lighting designer and Adam Cork the sound designer and composer. Sophie Holland CSA serves as casting director, Bethany West as associate director, Kate West as production manager, Lisa Aitken as costume supervisor, Kate Margretts as prop supervisor and Fiona Steed as general manager.
Tickets for “My Master Builder” are now on sale via the production’s website, with over 10,000 tickets available at £25. Previews begin on April 17, with the show running through July 12.
