France TV Distribution Kicks-Off Sales on ‘Aspergirl’ Season 2

France TV Distribution, the sales and co-production arm of public broadcaster France Televisions Group, is launching international distribution on Season 2 of comedy series “Aspergirl” at the upcoming edition of Mip London, set for February 23-27.

Distributed worldwide by France TV distribution, the country’s biggest TV exporter, “Aspergirl” Season 2 is produced by Paris-based Patafilm, founded by entrepreneur Antonin Ehrenberg, in co-production with Belgium’s Velvet Films.

Filming for Season 2 of “Aspergirl,” structured as an eight chapters, 22-minute each, began in September in Angoulême and will be ready for delivery by the fall.

“Aspergirl” turns on Louison, a single-mother that discovers she has autism spectrum disorder when her son Guilhem is himself diagnosed following an incident at school. The Louison leading role in the series is played by French actress Nicole Ferroni (“Mental”).

In S2, after having had difficulty accepting the decision of Guilhem to live with his father rather than with her, Louison is living the perfect love with Marica, a committed environmentalist. They are preparing to realize their plan of living together, building an energy self-sufficient house.

But, suddenly, Guilhem returns five years after to live with his mother. When she learns of Guilhem’s plan to join a program to settle on Mars, Louison tries to convince him to stay on good old Earth, even if it means jeopardizing her relationship.

Created by Judith Godinot and Hadrien Cousin, co-writers alongside Chloé Lefour and Claire Saint-Pierre, S2 is directed by Alice and Rose Philippon.

In 2023, the series competed in the official French selection at Series Mania, earning best actor award for Carel Brown, who played the Guilhem role in the first season. Arthur de Crépy (“Tapie”) plays the Guilhem character in S2.

The new season also features actors Louise Massin (“Carrément craignos”), Suzanne de Baecque (“Derby Girl”), Marc Fraize (“Antoinette dans les Cévennes”), Alexandre Steiger (“Marianne”), Mani Choukrane (“Ceux Qui Rougissent”), Chaili Soufir and Eva Rami (“La vengeance aux yeux clairs”).

“Aspergirl” Season 2 will launch in France via Ciné+OCS, the pay TV operator owned by Canal + Group, a fruit of the acquisition by Canal+ of OCS and Orange Studio, respectively the pay TV arm and film division of Orange, France’s leading telco.
