Also premiering at the Munich festival as a German Premiere is PTI’s historical drama “Frieda’s Case” (by Oscar-nominated Maria Brendle) for which PTI closed a distribution deal for Germany and Austria ahead of the festival with Arsenal Filmverleih. Further recent sales include Spain (Alfa Pictures), Latin America (Encripta), Central Europe (HBO Europe) among others with final negotiations for a theatrical release in China ongoing.

Martina Pluras’ “Hot Girl Summer” is a Gen Z-infused reboot of the early 2000s franchise, which originally gained pop cultural icon status in Germany. The updated version brings contemporary female empowerment to the forefront while honoring the spirit of the original, positioning it as a commercial summer break out release.

“Hot Girl Summer” is a production by Olga Film in co-production with Constantin Film and EPO-Film. It is produced by Marina Schiller and Viola Jäger in co-production with Jakob Pochlatko and Dieter Pochlatko as well as Oliver Berben as executive producer.

Hanno Olderdissen’s “Almost Brothers,” starring Christoph Maria Herbst (“Weddings and Wokes”), is a sharp, heartfelt comedy about two estranged half-brothers forced to live together and figure out what family really means. It is produced by Boris Schönfelder of Neue Schönhauser Filmproduktion in co-production with ZDF, Senator Filmproduktion, Bantry Bay Productions and Wild Bunch Germany.

“Frieda’s Case” tells the true story of Frieda Keller, a seamstress at the heart of a groundbreaking legal battle for gender justice. The film stars Julia Buchmann and was produced by Susann Henggeler and Hans G. Syz for Condor Films AG, in co-production with SRF Schweizer Radio und Fernsehen and SRG SSR.
