Bollywood juggernaut Yash Raj Films (YRF) has officially christened its much-anticipated collaboration with romance maestro Mohit Suri as “Saiyaara.”
The film, billed as an “intense love story,” marks the first production under YRF CEO Akshaye Widhani‘s leadership and will be presented by studio head Aditya Chopra. Already generating industry buzz for introducing newcomers Ahaan Panday and Aneet Padda to Hindi-language cinema, “Saiyaara” is now locked for worldwide theatrical release on July 18, 2025.
The title “Saiyaara” (a term often associated with soulmates or journey companions in romantic contexts) signals the creative direction for this high-profile partnership that brings together two romance powerhouses. YRF contributes its formidable 50-year legacy of iconic love stories directed by founder Yash Chopra and Aditya Chopra, including “Veer Zaara,” “Jab Tak Hai Jaan,” and the generation-defining “Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge.”
Suri’s involvement promises his signature emotional intensity that has delivered 20 years of youth-oriented blockbusters like “Aashiqui 2,” “Ek Villain,” and “Malang” to the project that industry insiders have been tracking since its initial announcement.
Yash Raj Films has built its cinematic empire largely on the foundation of love stories that have defined Indian romance for generations. Beyond their best-known titles, the studio’s romantic repertoire includes classics like “Silsila,” which explored extramarital relationships with unprecedented nuance, “Lamhe,” a ahead-of-its-time tale of unconventional love, “Mohabbatein,” where love triumphs against tradition, and “Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi,” examining transformation through love. These films have collectively shaped Bollywood’s romantic sensibilities for over five decades, making YRF synonymous with sophisticated, emotionally resonant love stories that transcend typical genre conventions.
