Keith Urban Exits Interview Over Nicole Kidman Sex Scene Question

Keith Urban‘s recent interview on Australia’s “Hayley & Max in the Morning” radio show was cut short after one of the hosts asked about his wife, Nicole Kidman, doing sex scenes in movies and television shows (via E! News). The country music star called into the show and was warned by the hosts that they had a “very tricky … deeply personal question.”

“The first thing I thought of with your beautiful wife, Nicole Kidman, being on so many great movies, TV shows all the time,” Max began. “What does Keith Urban think when he sees his beautiful wife with beautiful younger men like Zac Efron having these beautiful love scenes on TV and radio?”

Urban either didn’t give an answer or didn’t have time to as the call was abruptly dropped. A producer told the radio hosts that Urban and his team “disconnected from Zoom.” But one source told People magazine that “Keith did not hang up, period. He doesn’t host his Zoom interviews.”

Variety reached out to Urban’s team but his representative had no comment on the matter.

Max was referencing the Netflix movie “A Family Affair,” in which Kidman’s character has a steamy romance with Efron’s. The rom-com, directed by Richard LaGravenese and co-starring Joey King, began streaming in June 2024 and remains on the platform.

“I think his team hung up on us because they didn’t want us to ask that question,” Max said, prompting Hayley to say that was “100 percent what happened… he’s gone! He doesn’t like the personal stuff. Oh, I knew that would happen. We’ve upset him.”

Urban and Kidman have been married since 2006 and have two children together. They walked the red carpet together in May at the 60th Academy of Country Music Awards and were recently spotted in late June watching the Los Angeles Football Club game during the FIFA Club World Cup 2025.

Kidman revealed to CBS News last year that she almost quit acting in 2008 after the birth of her first child with Urban.

“When I gave birth to [Sunday Kidman-Urban], I was like, ‘Well, I think I’m pretty much done now,’” Kidman said. “We were living on a farm, and that’s when my mother said, ‘I wouldn’t give up completely. Keep a finger sort of in it.’ And I’m like, ‘No, no. I’m done now. I’m done.’ She’s going, ‘Just listen to me. Keep moving forward. Not saying that you have to do it to the level you’ve been doing it, but I wouldn’t give it up completely.’”

Kidman took the advice to heart, and three years later scored her third Oscar nomination for her leading performance in “Rabbit Hole.”
