Kyle Thomas, Jacob Sartorius, Benji Krol Star in ‘A Day for Losers’

Social media influencers Kyle Thomas (“We Built a Zoo”), Jacob Sartorius (The Loneliest Boy in the World) and Benji Krol are set to star in “A Day for Losers,” a high school comedy written and directed by Australian filmmaker J.G. Clarke (“Numbered Lives“).

Cardinal Motion Picture’s David Lightfoot (“Land of Bad”) will produce alongside Clarke with production set to begin August 2025 in Australia.

“A Day For Losers” takes place at South Verge Military School, a disillusioned cadet, Ryan (Thomas), has recklessly promised the girl of his dreams he will throw the party to end all parties.

“I wanted to bring back a more fearless type of comedy that seems to have disappeared from screens recently,” said Clarke. “Too often high school students, particularly minority groups, are represented as broken, isolated, and powerless. We want to show them as they are – the ones who fearlessly face and overcome their hardships and have the most fun along the way.”

Clarke also noted that while there’s been “so many films attempt to capture Gen Z with forced slang and outdated references, the truth is that no one can represent this generation better than the people who haven’t just lived it, but have helped shape it.”

The filmmaker points out Benji, Kyle, and Jacob have connected with tens of millions of people and followed a traditional casting process for “A Day for Losers.” “I cast them because they understand these characters, they bring something real, and they aren’t afraid to go all in,” said Clarke.

Krol, who has 34.8 million followers on TikTok and 2.3 million on Instagram, was born in Brazil to an Argentinian mother and a British father and first gained recognition through his viral makeup looks. He’s been telling personal stories that resonate with teenagers and young adults around the world.

Thomas, who has 36.6 million followers on TikTok and 1.4 million on Instagram, was the lead of the BBC programme “We Built a Zoo” which followed Kyle’s decision to build his own animal sanctuary while navigating planning regulations and upset neighbors.

With 23.5 million followers on TikTok and 11 million on Instagram, Sartorius began his career in musical theater at th age of 7, setting the stage for his diverse talents. He produced a documentary on his work with Wim Hoff as part of his work to promote mental health for teenagers.

Clarke’s debut feature “Numbered Lives,” starring Jeremy Piven, is slated for theatrical release in late 2025. The psychological thriller just won Best in Show at IndieFest.

Krol is repped by Beth Morris of Lost Labs, Thomas is repped by Nader Dehdashti of YMU Group, and Sartorius is repped by Michael Abrams of the Michael Abrams Group.
