The New York City Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment has announced the full slate of programming for the eighth annual New York Music Month, the City’s official music festival held every June.
In collaboration with more than 50 music industry partners, MOME has curated a diverse lineup of 50+ free events throughout June, including performances by emerging artists and discussion panels, workshops, and masterclasses on industry issues, artistic growth, and professional development. The full calendar of events is available at the new website, NYMusicMonth.NYC. The festival has also upgraded with a revised creative direction and a fully redesigned website. “We are so pleased to announce details for the 8th annual New York Music Month, where New Yorkers will get access to 50+ free events all over the city that will look to entertain and educate on the state of the local and global music community,” said Commissioner of the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment, Pat Swinney Kaufman. “Per usual, the month kicks off with our flagship Music Conference which offers a more robust schedule than ever before. Congratulations to MOME’s team leader on the New York Music Month initiative, Shira Gans, on curating the month of events for all New Yorkers to enjoy!”
The month kicks off with the tentpole NYMM Conference, presented in partnership with the NYU Steinhardt Music Business Program, returning to the NYU Skirball Center on June 3. The NYMM Talks program will feature 36 free events exploring some of the most timely and relevant topics in today’s music industry. NYMM Performances: The NYMM Performance program will include 18 free shows across the city, highlighting a wide range of live music experiences and collaborations. This year includes the launch of Radio City, a new series created by co-sign that celebrates New York’s independent, non-commercial radio stations—WFMU, WFUV, WKCR, WNYC, WNYE / Afropop Worldwide, and The Lot Radio / Dada Strain—through performances and community engagement events that showcase their musical identities and artist access points. Additional performance highlights include World Wide Playdate with Divinity Roxx and Friends, a family-friendly concert experience; a five-borough emerging artist showcase produced by Sungate Records; and Young Masters, presented by THE OFFICE performing arts + film, featuring two-time Latin GRAMMY© winner Ella Bric and NPR Tiny Desk Contest winner Linda Diaz.
