As the 2025 WNBA season dribbles into full force, the reigning champions, the New York Liberty, are making headlines not just for their on-court prowess but also for a new partnership with travel brand Away. Announced just ahead of the team’s home opener, Away has become the Official Luggage Partner of the Liberty, signaling a fusion of athletic excellence and travel innovation.

The partnership is a strategic move for the pop culture-savvy travel brand. Liberty’s 2024 championship victory marked a historic moment for the entire WNBA franchise, igniting a surge in fan engagement and merch sales. Their dynamic mascot Ellie the Elephant has become a cultural icon in of itself, boasting nearly 200,000 TikTok followers and partnerships with major brands like Fenty Beauty and Off-White.

In their 2025 season opener, they secured a 92-78 victory over the Las Vegas Aces, with standout performances from Breanna Stewart and newcomer Natasha Cloud. The game was played before a sellout crowd of 17,344 at Barclays Center, reflecting the team’s growing popularity.
