Scott Foley will star in Amazon Prime Video’s “It’s Not Like That” as a modern-day minister named Malcolm.
Prime Video gave a cast contingent series order to the show, from faith-based content studio Wonder Project, in November. This casting lifts the contingency.
The logline for “It’s Not Like That” goes as follows: “Lori is freshly divorced with two teens. Malcolm’s a minister and recently widowed dad of three. Their families once did everything together, but now Lori and Malcolm must navigate their newly minted singledom, parenthood and the complexities of Malcolm being a modern-day minister. Is this the beginning of a love story? It’s not like that. Or is it?”
Ian Deitchman and Kristin Robinson created the series and will serve as showrunners. They executive produce alongside Jon Erwin, Justin Rosenblatt and Kelly Merryman Hoogstraten for Wonder Project; Alex Goldstone for 42 & Anonymous Content; and Kingdom Story Company. The series is produced by Wonder Project and Amazon MGM Studios. Justin Rosenblatt, Wonder Project’s head of global television, will oversee the project.
Foley most recently starred in Netflix’s “La Dolce Villa” and can also be seen as Dr. Seth McDale on ABC’s “Will Trent.” He’s also set to return to the “Scream” franchise in the upcoming seventh installment. Foley is represented by Independent Artist Group, Atlas Artists and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern.
Deitchman and Robinson are currently co-executive producers for “Off Campus,” which was ordered to series at Amazon Prime Video back in October. Their other credits include the Amazon shows “As We See It,” “Carnival Row,” and “Z: The Beginning of Everything,” as well as series “Ordinary Joe” and “Rise” at NBC, “Almost Family” at Fox and “The Bold Type” at Freeform. They also wrote for the hit NBC series “Parenthood” and penned the feature “Life as We Know It.”
