Seth Meyers Sets Comedy Special on HBO

Seth Meyers has set his debut comedy special with HBO.

The “Late Night” host and “Saturday Night Live” alum taped the stand-up hour in front of a live audience at Chicago’s Vic Theatre.

The special will debut sometime this fall on HBO and will be available to stream on Max.

“Critics say it’s the special my kids will be talking about in therapy twenty years from now!” Meyers quipped.

Comic and “The Chappelle Show” co-creator Neal Brennan directs the special, which is written by Meyers and produced by Irwin Entertainment, as well as Meyers and Mike Shoemaker via their Sethmaker Shoemeyers Productions banner.

Nina Rosenstein, executive vice president of HBO Programming, late night and specials, added in a statement: “As longtime fans, we’re so happy to partner with Seth on his first HBO special. He’s such a charismatic storyteller and we’ve always loved the way he reaches people on such a personal level. This special is endlessly relatable and so much fun to watch.”

Prior to hosting NBC’s “Late Night,” where he’s manned the desk since 2014, Meyers was the head writer of “Saturday Night Live,” as well an anchor of its flagship “Weekend Update” segment. In 2019, he released his debut stand-up special, “Lobby Baby,” on Netflix, earning an Emmy nomination for writing for a variety special. In all, Meyers has racked up 33 Emmy nods. If that wasn’t enough, Meyers also penned a children’s book, “I’m Not Scared, You’re Scared,” in 2022, and he currently co-hosts two podcasts, “Family Trips with the Meyers Brothers” and “The Lonely Island and Seth Meyers Podcast.”
