‘SNL’ Weekend Update Compares Trump Admin to Osama Bin Laden

The Weekend Update anchors took on President Trump’s address to Congress on this week’s “Saturday Night Live,” taking down the commander-in-chief’s claim that “no president has changed government faster” than him.

“Nobody changed airport security faster than Bin Laden,” Michael Che joked, before getting a drive-by in on the world’s — but not necessarily Americans’ — favorite sport. “President Trump also said that he signed an executive order to ban men from playing in women’s sports. But if men aren’t allowed to play women’s sports, explain soccer.”

“After imposing tariffs on Mexico and Canada on Tuesday, President Trump reversed them on Thursday. It’s a cunning political tactic experts call bipolar disorder,” co-anchor Colin Jost later joked, picking up the routine.

“Experts say that President Trump’s tariffs will raise the cost of a new car by as much as $12,000. Or you can get a free Tesla, since people are throwing them away,” Jost continued. “Speaking of which, Tesla’s CEO and white Kanye, Elon Musk wore a suit instead of a jacket and t-shirt to this week’s cabinet meeting after President Trump made fun of his clothing. It’s a refreshing reminder that bullying still works.”

Lady Gaga is both musical guest and host for this week’s episode of “SNL,” promoting her seventh studio album “Mayhem.” The evening marks her second time as host and her fifth time performing on the show. “Weekend Update” also saw appearances from cast members Kenan Thompson, playing ESPN studio commentator Kendrick Perkins, and Mikey Day, playing Lord Gaga, the fictional husband to Lady Gaga.
