SPOILER ALERT: Details follow for Season 13, Episode 4 of “The Masked Singer,” “Voices of Olympus: Unmasking of the Gods,” which aired March 5 on Fox.
“Vanderpump Rules” star Scheana Shay was the latest celebrity to be revealed Wednesday on Fox’s hit music competition series “The Masked Singer.” Shay was unmasked as the Bat, during the show’s “Voices of Olympus: Unmasking of the Gods” themed night.
For Bat, no one got it right — although everyone was in the reality TV arena. Robin Thicke said Bethanny Frankel. Jenny McCarthy-Wahlberg went with Larsa Pippen. Rita Ora named Heidi Montag at first, then went with Frankel as well. Ken Jeong thought it was Lisa Rinna.
Shay sang “Espresso,” by Sabrina Carpenter, for her performance. “I’m becoming Bat because I’m a creature of the night, and a bit of a bat-ass,” she said in her clue package. “Like bats, I’m one of the most misunderstood creatures ever. I’ve been forever villainized. Constantly portrayed as a blood sucking backstabber. And to that I say, ‘ew, get over it.’ I’m so not that bat. My real friends know I actually have a heart of gold. I’ve just been surrounded by a bunch of lunatics. And for years, all my words have been twisted upside down. I’m just out here partying and having the time of my life, girl.”
Sheana Shay as Bat joins Aubrey O’Day as Ant, Oscar de la Hoya as Fuzzy Peas and Cedric the Entertainer as Honey Pot as the celebrities unmasked on “The Masked Singer” Season 13.
Shay first appeared on Bravo‘s “Vanderpump Rules” in 2013 as part of the show’s original cast. Shay’s additional television credits include “90210,” “Victorious” and “Jonas,” among other titles.
“Voices of Olympus: Unmasking of the Gods” opened with five new Group B contestants, after Group A winners Coral and Paparazzo moved on to the next round last week.
Back for Season 13 are host Nick Cannon, alongside panelists Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg, Ken Jeong, Rita Ora and Robin Thicke. Ora was at the desk for a third consecutive season to fill in for Nicole Scherzinger.
New this season, a mysterious masked character dubbed “Detective Lucky Duck” will appear throughout the season to give clues and help the panelists “quack” the case of who’s under the masks. (He first appeared in this episode.)
Also new: The “Crack the Case” clue cases, in which more clues are shared about the eliminated contestant. Bat’s clue case included hoop earrings.” “Gold is a part of every major life event I’ve had, including the debut of my first single.” she said.
“The Masked Singer” Season 13 themed episodes include a tribute to franchises “Shrek” and “Ghostbusters,” as well as the Grand Ole Opry as it hits its 100th anniversary. Also on tap are a tribute to the Rat Pack and themes such as “Voices of Olympus: Unmasking of the Gods,” “Carnival,” “Boy Bands,” “Decades,” “Lucky 6 Speed Guessing,” a “Clash of the Masks” and the return of “Soundtrack of My Life.”
Masked contestants in Season 13 include Honey Pot, Space Ranger, Cherry Blossom, Coral, Fuzzy Peas, Ant, Paparazzo, Griffin, Boogie Woogie, Pearl and Bat, with more to be announced later.
