The Network Acquires Documentary ‘War Game’ for Free Streaming Premiere

Free ad-supported streamer The Network has acquired the timely documentary “War Game,” which will premiere July 4 as its next original. Deal comes as The Network pickes up the film from distributor Boat Rocker; the project will now be branded a Network original in association with Boat Rocker Studios and Anonymous Content.

Jesse Moss and Tony Gerber directed “War Game,” which follows “a bipartisan group of U.S. defense, intelligence, and elected policymakers spanning five presidential administrations who participate in an unscripted role-play exercise in which they confront a political coup backed by rogue members of the U.S. military, in the wake of a contested presidential election.”

Described as a look at what could have happened during the tragic Jan. 6 attack on the Capitol, “War Game” was organized by Vet Voice Foundation and takes place in a simulated Situation Room.

“We’re excited that ‘War Game’ is reaching new audiences through this recent partnership with The Network,” Moss and Gerber said in a joint statement. “This film offers an urgent, behind-the-scenes look at a plausible political crisis, and we hope it continues to inspire reflection and dialogue about the complexities of leadership in moments of peril.”

Among those who appear in the film: Gov. Steve Bullock (D-Mont.) as the US President, Gen. Wesley Clark as the Joint Chiefs of Staff, Sen. Doug Jones (D-Ala.) as the Attorney General and Sen. Heidi Heitkamp (D-N.D.) as Special Advisor to the President.

“’War Game’ reminds us that the United States is a delicate experiment, and no matter what your political affiliation, we must all work together to uphold our democracy. I couldn’t be more proud to premiere this heart pounding documentary on our nation’s birthday,” said The Network CEO Aram Rappaport.

The Network launched in May 2024 with drama series “The Green Veil” starring John Leguizamo and the comedy series “Chivalry” starring Steve Coogan and Sarah Solemani. It’s available on all devices across Apple, Android, Roku, Amazon Fire, X1, Xumo and Web.

“War Game” was produced by Todd Lubin, Jack Turner, and Mark DiCristofaro (“Billie Eilish: The World’s a Little Blurry,” “Pretty Baby: Brooke Shields”) along with Nick Shumaker (“Sanctuary”) and Jessica Grimshaw (“A Wilderness of Error”).

Also, Warren Littlefield (“The Handmaid’s Tale,” ”Fargo”) executive produced the project for The Littlefield Co., along with Jonathan E. Steinberg and Dan Shotz (“Black Sails,” ”The Old Man”)for Quaker Moving Pictures. Ivan Schneeberg and David Fortier executive produced for Boat Rocker’ Seth Brodie and David Levine for Anonymous Content, along with Jay Peterson and Eric Schmeltzer.
