Brad Pitt is set to star in the upcoming adaptation of “The Riders” with “Conclave” filmmaker Edward Berger on board to direct.

A24 will finance and distribute the film. Production is expected to begin in early 2026 and shoot in multiple locations across Europe. That’s the setting of Tim Winton’s novel “The Riders,” which follows a man as he searches far and wide after his wife goes missing.

David Kajganich is adapting the screenplay. Producers include Ridley Scott’s Scott Free, Berger’s Nine Hours, Pitt’s Plan B and Kajganich.

Pitt will appear next in “F1,” a racing drama from “Top Gun: Maverick” director Joseph Kosinski. He’s also working on “The Continuing Adventures of Cliff Booth,” a spinoff of Quentin Tarantino’s 2019 film “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.” David Fincher is directing the movie for Netflix with Tarantino working on the script.

Berger is the Oscar-nominated director of the Vatican drama “Conclave” and “All Quiet on the Western Front.” Kajganich has collaborated with Luca Guadagnino on several screenplays including “A Bigger Splash,” “The Terror” and “Bones and All.”
