Jesse Williams to Tease Prime Video’s ‘Hotel Costiera’ at Taormina
Prime Video will unveil first footage of its new Italian original series “Hotel Costiera” at the upcoming Taormina Film Festival with the show’s lead actor and executive producer Jesse Williams in tow.
The high-end English-language action-drama with comedic elements directed by Emmy winner Adam Bernstein (“30 Rock,” “Fargo”) will be teased during the storied Sicilian event with a screening of a small portion of the first episode, launched by Williams in Taormina’s 8,000-seat open-air ancient Greek amphitheater in the shadow of Sicily’s active Mt. Etna volcano.
In “Costiera,” Williams (“Grey’s Anatomy,”‘ “Your Place Or Mine,” “Only Murders in the Building”) plays an Italian-American former Marine named Daniel De Luca, who is a problem solver in one of the most exclusive hotels in the world in Positano. He is a guest of the owner because DD, as everyone knows him, is the only person who caught a glimpse of the man who may have kidnapped his daughter, and therefore is the only person who may be able to hunt the kidnapper down. Aside from that storyline, DD basically solves a case in each episode.
Alongside Williams, the rich ensemble cast also includes Maria Chiara Giannetta, Jordan Alexandra, Antonio Gerardi, Sam Haygarth, Tommaso Ragno, Amanda Campana, Pierpaolo Spollon, Alejandra Onieva and Jean-Hugues Anglade.
“Costiera” is co-produced by Amazon MGM Studios and Luca Bernabei for Lux Vide, the Fremantle-owned Italian company behind global shows such as “Medici” and financial thriller “Devils.”
Under an innovative deal structure, Fremantle is handling global sales on “Costiera” in all territories outside of Italy, France, Spain and Portugal, and in English-speaking countries – Great Britain, Ireland, the United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand – where the show will launch exclusively on Prime Video later this year.
The 71st edition of the Taormina Film Festival will run June 10-14
