Kanye West is saying good-bye to his Malibu home.
The controversial rapper is selling his 4,000 square foot beachfront house just six months after buying it for $21 million. West did extensive renovations on the property, which includes ocean views from every room.
Realtor power couple Amanda Lynn and Dylan Eckardt of “Selling Sunset” and “Selling the Hamptons” fame, respectively, are putting the property on the market for $50 million. Eckardt has represented West on a number of real estate transactions including the purchase of the property last year.
“This is one of the bigger listings for me and Amanda together,” he says. “I’m gonna sell it this time to a great collector who wants to finish a masterpiece.”
The structure is one of the few private homes in the United States designed by the renowned Pritzker Prize-winning Japanese architect Tadao Ando, known for his minimalist structures and use of reinforced concrete. The house is constructed of 1,200 tons of concrete, 200 tons of steel and 12 massive pylons driven into the sand.
Neighbors include Jay-Z and Beyoncé, Betsy Johnson, Pierce Brosnan, Reese Witherspoon, Miley Cyrus, Leonardo DiCaprio, Julia Roberts and Emma Stone.
This week, West released his new album “Bully” in an unconventional manner. He initially tweeted a link to a film soundtracked by “Bully,” claiming that the album was “not finished and half the vocals AI.”
Over the past few years, West has also been in the news frequently for reasons unrelated to his music. He bought a Super Bowl ad with a link to his e-store. Once there, visitors had the sole option of buying a t-shirt emblazoned with a swastika.
