Katy Perry Nearly Falls as Stage Prop Tips Mid-Air at Australia Show

Katy Perry experienced a prop malfunction during her “Lifetimes” Tour concert at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre in Australia on Sunday night.

In video clips shared on social media, the singer is seen inside a large metal sphere designed to lift her above the audience. As the sphere began to rise, it tilted to one side, forcing Perry to grab onto the frame to keep her balance.

Perry’s prop malfunction occurred just one day after Beyoncé experienced an onstage mishap of her own, when her flying car began to tip over mid-air during her June 29 performance in Houston.

Perry is currently on her “Lifetimes” Tour, supporting her seventh studio album, “143,” which was released in September 2024. The tour kicked off in Mexico City in April and is scheduled to conclude at Etihad Park in Abu Dhabi on Dec. 7. For the first time since 2018, Perry will also headline shows at major U.S. venues like the Kia Forum in L.A. (July 15) and Madison Square Garden in New York City (Aug. 11).

In an interview with Variety earlier this year, Perry shared what audiences can expect during her “Lifetimes” Tour.

“I’m definitely pushing the boundaries with these concerts,” she said. “I’m always pushing my team to develop something that’s not to help me develop something that’s never been seen or heard.”

“I also feel the responsibility to give my audience the songs that they know,” Perry added. “I’m there to let them tap into the nostalgia… I really just want to reconnect. I want to lock eyes with my fans. It’s been a minute, and I feel very full up on love. I’m overflowing with it.”

Variety has reached out to Perry’s reps for comment on the onstage incident.
