‘Ne Zha 2’ Sets Russia Theatrical Release
All Rights Entertainment has secured a deal with prominent Russian distributor Arna Media for the theatrical release of Chinese blockbuster “Ne Zha 2” across Russia on May 29.
The agreement was negotiated by All Rights Entertainment’s Aurélien Piris, who serves as head of sales for Europe and Africa at the Paris, Hong Kong, and L.A-based sales company.
The fantasy adventure, written and directed by Yang Yu, has shattered box office records worldwide, amassing over $2.13 billion globally. This places “Ne Zha 2” as the fifth highest grossing film of all time, the highest grossing animation film of all time and marks the first non-American production to surpass the $2 billion threshold. The film has demonstrated impressive performance in Western markets as well, generating more than $20 million in the U.S. and exceeding $1.5 million during its opening weekend in the U.K.
Drawing from Chinese mythology, the adventure follows the journey of Ne Zha, a rebellious spirit born of fire and fate, who confronts the mighty Dragon King. When struck by divine lightning during battle, Ne Zha and his companion are transported to the spirit realm, with only the Sacred Lotus offering a path back to the world of the living.
Arna Media has recently distributed several acclaimed titles, including the Cannes Palme D’Or recipient “Anora” and Nicolas Cage’s sleeper hit “Longlegs.”
Nadezda Motina, president and founder of Arna Media, said: “It is a true honor for us to bring this wonderful animated film to audiences across the CIS [Commonwealth of Independent States}. We will launch an extensive marketing campaign across all key platforms to support the release. I am confident that ‘Ne Zha 2’ will win the hearts of people.”
