As Lille’s giant Series Mania confab kicks off March 21, REinvent International Sales has announced a fresh pick up in the crime show “The Pushover.” The six-parter is based on author Lone Theils’ sixth book in her best-selling Nora Sand franchise, published in more than 20 countries, including the UK, France, Germany, Spain and Scandinavia.
The series is the second TV adaptation featuring high-flying Danish journalist Nora Sand after the hit show “Fatal Crossing,” sold by REinvent to multiple territories, including Global Series Network/Walter Presents for the UK/Ireland, Lumiere Group for Benelux, TV4 for Sweden/Finland, Encripta for Latin America and Telepool for France and Germany.
Reuniting “Fatal Crossing” scribes Arne Berggren and Kristine Berg, helmer Magnus Berggren and Marie Sandø in the title role, “The Pushover” sets off when a woman is found dead in her pool in an upscale neighborhood. Suspicion falls on her boyfriend, Tom, a notorious con artist and Tinder-swindler. When he unexpectedly turns himself in, he admits to fraud but insists her death was an accident. Seasoned investigator Morten Stark is convinced he’s lying and, lacking hard evidence, plays a risky game to expose him. Meanwhile, journalist Nora Sand digs through a former colleague’s research and uncovers multiple past fraud cases against Tom. As she and her team dig into his past, they reveal a chilling secret and uncover a tangled web of deceit, exploitation, and murder, according to the synopsis.
Currently filming between Denmark and Norway, the crime show is produced by Shuuto Arctic for Norwegian streamer Altibox, in co-production with REinvent and co-financing from DR, which has pre-bought rights for Denmark.
Underlying the global success of “Fatal Crossing” -currently playing on Arte France- Helene Aurø, sales and marketing director at REinvent International Sales, said she is confident this new Shuuto Arctic show will have a similar international career. “The crime plot in ‘The Pushover’ is highly relevant and I am certain Nora Sand will reach screens worldwide.”
Author Lone Theils added: “I am incredibly happy and proud that Shuuto is now shooting the second season from the Nora Sand universe. It has been a magical experience to see my character come to life on the screen, I am unspeakably happy that Nora has touched so many readers and viewers alike.”
Nan Karin Ulsnes, product manager at Altibox, also said she is looking forward to this new show “with Nora Sand from the team behind “Fatal Crossing,” which became a definite audience favorite on Altibox.” The premiere on the Norwegian streamer is set for the fall 2025.
Next to “The Pushover,” REinvent International Sales is attending Series Mania with a strong slate, including “Reykjavik 112,” “L/over” and “Sami Wedding.” The outfit headed by Rikke Ennis will also be pitching the anticipated Norwegian true crime “Escaping Bolivia” at the exclusive ‘Buyers Upfront’ new initiative on March 24.
