Indian digital storytelling platform Pratilipi has forged a strategic content partnership with production house Roy Kapur Films to co-develop and produce a slate of films and series leveraging its expansive story universe.
The partnership will see the companies jointly identify stories from Pratilipi’s platform, co-invest in their development, and collaboratively pitch and produce them for leading studios and streamers. The goal is to co-produce at least six projects across films and series over the next three years.
The first project under the partnership is “Charitraheen,” a courtroom drama that has generated over 21 million reads on the Pratilipi app, with more than 244,000 reviews and a 4.88/5 rating.
Pratilipi boasts over 30 million monthly active users, 1.6 million writers, and a catalogue of millions of stories across 12 Indian languages.
Roy Kapur Films, founded by veteran producer Siddharth Roy Kapur, brings production expertise and industry relationships to the alliance. The company’s credits include “The Sky Is Pink,” which premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival, Netflix original film “Yeh Ballet,” Netflix crime thriller series “Aranyak,” and SonyLIV series “Rocket Boys.” Recent productions include “Deva,” “Pippa” and “Tumse Na Ho Payega.”

Roy Kapur Films’ upcoming projects include series “Matka King” for Prime Video and the internationally mounted historical epic “The Anarchy,” based on William Dalrymple’s bestselling book.
Pratilipi also owns and operates Pratilipi FM, Pratilipi Comics, Westland Books, and IVM Podcasts. The platform licenses stories to ecosystem partners for adaptation into streaming shows, TV series and films.
