The Academy Museum of Motion Pictures has announced its winter programming, featuring a range of new film series, screenings, public events and educational programs. Highlights include an onstage conversation with singer-songwriter Diane Warren, followed by a screening of “Armageddon,” and a live performance by Warren herself. The schedule also includes a 10th-anniversary screening of “Selma,” with special appearances by director Ava DuVernay, lead actor David Oyelowo and other key cast members.

Additional exhibits include Present Past: A Celebration of Film, showcasing preserved and restored works from the Academy Film Archive and beyond. Scheduled screenings for this series are “Who Killed Vincent Chin?” on Dec. 4, “The Cardinal” on Dec. 11, and “Frenchman’s Creek” on Dec. 18. Opening on Dec. 7 is Animation and Me, an immersive exploration of animation’s cinematic world. From Jan. 3 to Jan. 26, the museum will host The Roles He Played: Paul Newman at 100 celebrating the centennial of Newman’s birth. The popular 3D-Cember! showings will also return this season.

The museum introduces a new screening series, Cyberpunk: Envisioning Possible Futures Through Cinema, accompanying the recent exhibition of the same name. This exhibit debuted on Oct. 6, along with Color in Motion: Chromatic Explorations of Cinema, as part of PST ART: Art & Science Collide, a Getty initiative bringing together over 70 cultural institutions across Southern California.

The winter season will feature numerous special guests, including Melody Barnett, Mark Bridges, David Cronenberg, Joe Dante, DuVernay, Harry Dodge, Kenny Gravillis, Mimi Haddon, Kathleen Hanna, Steak House, Silas Howard, Shirley Kurata, Joi McMillon, Oyelowo, Peter Sohn, Nia Vardalos, Warren, and Marlon West.
