Sukollawat Kanarot Boards ‘There’s Something Wrong With the TV’
Bangkok-based Night Edge Pictures is ramping up production on the Thai horror sci-fi feature “There’s Something Wrong With the TV,” with leading Thai actor Sukollawat Kanarot (“Once Upon a Star,” “Thirteen Lives”) confirmed for the starring role.
The film is being introduced to international distributors at this year’s Hong Kong FilMart, where a first-look preview will debut. Currently in pre-production, the project is slated for release in Q1 2026. Directed by a trio of filmmakers — Lertsiri Boonmee, Vutichai Wongnophadol (“SLR”) and Sathanapong Limwongthong (“Chef’s Table”) — the supernatural thriller follows teenager Kla and his best friend who discover a mysterious antique television set hidden under the stairs. When powered on, the TV reveals four children apparently trapped inside and held captive by sinister forces. Kla recruits his father Krit (Kanarot) to help rescue the children from the mysterious world within the television, unaware of the truly wicked nature of the device.
“Horror and sci-fi are two of the most profitable genres in the market, and we couldn’t be more excited to produce ‘There’s Something Wrong With the TV’ along with other international partners,” said Hans Audric Estialbo, CEO of Night Edge Pictures and producer of the film.
Night Edge Pictures, which distributes films like “Talk to Me,” “Late Night With the Devil” and “Terrifier 3” in Thailand, is executive producing alongside a consortium that includes MarkEd Creativity, Nob Productions, Innova, Phoenix Films, 919, and Fat Cat Studios (known for “The 100” and “Inhuman Kiss 2”).
The company’s other productions, “Death Dial” and “Night Shift,” which launched at AFM and the Cannes market last year, have secured distribution in multiple territories and are scheduled for release later this year.
