The Boys Superclass Emmys FYC Clip Mocks The Last of Us

Prime Video‘s “The Boys” has enlisted ‘acclaimed’ director Adam Bourke (played by P.J. Byrne) to premiere a new MasterClass-esque “Superclass” as part of the show’s Season 5 Emmy FYC campaign. The new clip, featuring seedy film director-turned Godolkin University (as seen in “Gen V”) acting professor Bourke , is described as a “Superhero’s Guide to Awards Season Acting” aimed at helping supes take home statutes on Emmy night. Scroll down to watch.

Bourke begins his Superclass by stressing that “picking the role is more important than playing the role,” and goes on to guide supes through which genres to look for and which to avoid. The “Dawns of the Seven” director advises supes to look for period pieces because they’re full of “penetration in petticoats,” followed by pointers on how to act convincingly during a sex scene.

He then moves on to “premium dramas,” remarking that dragons are “cheesy as hell,” but “banging your sister on a dragon” is a “jackpot.” For supes looking to star in prestige culinary TV shows, Bourke advises that “if you’re shucking pea shoots and placing rose petals with  tweezers, get that speech ready, because we want to hear your well-formed thoughts on immigration.”

Bourke then tackles zombie shows: “If they offer you [one], that’s a hard pass unless there’s a random heartfelt gay episode halfway through the series, because apparently one eighth gay is gay-okay. It’s gay-okay with me and the Academy.”

He ends his Superclass with the most important rule of FYC season: never do a superhero show. “You might think surprising characters with nuanced performances or insightful commentary makes a difference, but it doesn’t fucking matter.”

Per Prime Video, “Bourke is ‘The Boys’’ satirical answer to Hollywood’s most notorious directors — once a big deal at Vought, now stuck teaching acting after misconduct allegations derailed his career. He’s both a punchline and a pointed commentary on unchecked egos and abuses of power.”

Meanwhile, the Prime Video/Sony Pictures TV series will next get a two-day fan activation, organized by Amazon MGM Studios, that brings “Vought on Ice” to the Westfield Century City Mall on June 7th and 8th.

Fans of the series are familiar, of course, with the infamous holiday-themed ice show. Now they can watch the three-minute performance featuring skaters lip-syncing to “Put The Christ Back in Christmas,” turning Vought’s over-the-top holiday propaganda into real life.

The rink will also be open for 40-minute free skate sessions each hour, as well as showcase actual costumes from Season 4. Reserve your spot here.
